Tropical cyclone Ita struck Papua New Guinea at about 06:00 GMT on April 8.

SEVERE RAIN STORMS, FLOODING, LANDSLIDES -

3000 evacuated as cyclonic storm Lucrezia pounds Argentina - The cyclone, dubbed Lucrezia on one of the social networking sites, shut schools and businesses on Monday.
More than 3,000 people have been evacuated to safer areas after torrential rains brought by Lucrezia, ONE OF THE WORST CYCLONIC STORMS TO HAVE HIT THE COUNTRY IN 40 YEARS, pounded the Neuquén, Rio Negro, Santa Fe, Cordoba, Entre Rios, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero provinces. The evacuees have been accommodated in temporary shelters. The authorities have declared a state of emergency. (photos at link)
